Cake Decorating Ideas

I am always keeping an eye out for new cake decorating ideas. Over the years, I have baked so many cakes, cupcakes, cookies, and other sweet treats that as far as the decorations go I have pretty much exhausted my imagination...

I just love to bake desserts and pastries. It seems like I'm always whipping something up for a birthday, holiday, or other special occasion.

I take as much pride in the presentation of my desserts as I do in the actual taste. That is why I strive to make the decorations as personalized and meaningful as possible.

My own ideas on cake decoration consist mostly of placing various candied toppings directly on the frosting. The toppings I use are flowers, hearts, stars, and other common shapes.

This is admittedly low-tech as far as cake decoration goes. However, I find that I'm able to do a lot of different things with these basic designs.

Another of my tried-and-true ideas is to use stencils. They help me create more complicated designs, like animals, holiday shapes, and things of that nature. But as I said, I've been using these same techniques for years and would like to try something new.

Baking is one of the most popular pastimes around, I had no trouble finding resources that offered plenty of free ideas on cake decoration. For example, I went down to the public library and looked through the various home and food magazines that they had.

Many of those types of magazines contain recipes and full color photos from which I could cull cake decorating ideas.

While I was there, I also thumbed through entire books that featured nothing but dessert recipes. I looked at these to see if I could find any other decorating ideas and tips.

Another fantastic resource for cake decoration ideas is the Internet. I went online and searched for web sites, message forums, and discussion groups devoted to this wonderful art.

I found a number of great online communities to join, and I've learned so much from my fellow bakers already. In addition, I discovered that I could take classes at local cooking schools, to learn cake decorating ideas from professionals. This was something that I was very interested in, so I made a point to enroll for the next scheduled session.

All in all, I discovered more decoration ideas than I ever thought I would in such a short time. Now I am once again looking forward to celebrating special days with my friends and family. I will be presenting them with the tasty sweet treats that I put so much time and love into.
